JANUARY
Hello Hello everyone!
Ever find yourself saying "last month was a blur"? Well, January was exactly that! We've rarely stayed anywhere longer than a couple of days, and when everything is constantly new, sometimes I wake up wondering which state I'm in (thank goodness for the bus GPS!).
Our year kicked off in the most surreal way – watching New Year's fireworks from a farm in Las Cruces, New Mexico, before spending January 1st cruising through El Paso, driving parallel to the border for what felt like forever. That night we wild-camped at a West Texas rest stop, which, if you've never driven across West Texas... well, grab a map and prepare to be amazed at just how vast it is! This was actually our second time crossing it in 9 months, but this time we had a destination in mind: Austin (the city, not the dog!). If you didn't know, my lab Austin is named after the city – I've spent lots of time here and it's a place I always fall in love with.
Made a special stop in Georgetown to see Janet at Pupology, one of my fave stores, and loaded up on treats for the pups (they've been such troopers on this journey!). After soaking up Austin's urban vibes, we pointed east through Louisiana, where – you won't believe this – it SNOWED at our campsite! The dogs went absolutely bonkers, definitely not something any of us expected! I even bumped into an old teammate from my triathlon days with Betty Designs, which was such a fun blast from the past.
The Mississippi coast was breathtaking, though Alabama tried to give us a proper scare when a truck ran us off the road during our dog walk! Everyone's fine, just a bit rattled, and the dogs probably thought it was all part of the adventure.

Speaking of adventures – I couldn’t believe how crystal-blue the waters were in the Florida Panhandle - looked like the Caribbean but it was part of that COLD snap so definitely not beach weather!
Then we hit South Florida and everything changed. When I say hot and humid... whew! We're talking serious stick-to-your-everything weather (Seattle definitely didn't prepare us for this!). But we've been loving every minute of visiting stores – getting to see old friends and welcoming Pet Supermarket's 200+ locations to our family. The dogs have been quite the ambassadors, while Tim's mastered the art of navigating our not-so-tiny bus through Publix parking lots. Well, mostly mastered – let's just say there was one small incident (Building: 1, Bus: 0).
We'll be exploring more of Florida through February.
Maybe by then we'll have adjusted to this humidity... though I'm not holding my breath!
Until next time, keep those tails wagging!
